This article explains how to get the MAC address of your Windows computer.

To get your MAC address, use your command prompt and either the command ipconfig or getmac.

Using ipconfig

Getting the MAC address using ipconfig (German operating system)
  1. Click on Start in the task bar of Windows to open your start menu
  2. Click on Run
    • If not visible: Open Accessories >> Run
    • Alternative hotkey: press Windows-key + R
  3. Enter cmd and click OK
  4. A command prompt window will open
  5. Enter ipconfig /all into this command window
  6. A list of network adapters and its MAC addresses appears
  7. Scroll to your adapter (e.g. Ethernet for LAN)
  8. The Physical Address listed is the MAC address for that network adapter (e.g. 12-34-56-78-90-12)

Using getmac

Getting the MAC address using getmac (German operating system)
  1. Click on Start in the task bar of Windows to open your start menu
  2. Click on Run
    • If not visible: Open Accessories >> Run
    • Alternative hotkey: press Windows-key + R
  3. Enter cmd and click OK
  4. A command prompt window will open
  5. Enter getmac into this command window
  6. A list of MAC addresses appears
  7. You'll find your MAC address in the column Physical Address (e.g. 12-34-56-78-90-12)
